The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) does not require nor recognize certification for Collection System Operators in the state of Indiana. However, the Indiana Water Environmental Association (IWEA) knows the importance of certification for that part of the field, so they have worked for years making sure Collection System Certification is available for Indiana. The IWEA Collection Systems Committee has continued to offer the ABC certification program for applicants who are eligible for the different classifications. Certificates earned in the state of Indiana are issued as lifetime certificates. If you are interested in more information regarding the exam, please contact Gary Merriman, at gary.merriman@cityoffortwayne.org or see the Collection Systems Committee page on the IWEA web-site (find link on Resources page of this web-site). The exam is given twice a year in two locations. All applications must be received prior to the second Thursday in March for the April Exam and the second Thursday in September for the October Exam. The Exam is $65 for Class I & II and $75 for Class III & IV. The 2015 exam dates and locations are:
Clay Township – April 28th and October 27
Fort Wayne – April 30th and October 29
