The Gary Sanitary District continues with their efforts to make sure all employees have training and the ability to continue their personal growth with a Wastewater Operator Certification Review Course. Most of their operators are now certified Class I and many have gone on to achieve higher certifications, not only in municipal studies, but in industrial as well.
This four-week course started in February and ended in March with four-hour sessions once a week. This allows for the operators to not only study between sessions (for those taking the exam) but for others to get needed contact hours and still work part of their regular shift. At the end of each session the students were given homework (that included mainly the material covered in class) to have completed for review at the start of next session. It was hearting to hear all the yeps while going over the test answers. Even when one question was missed after only a brief discussion the reason it was missed was clear.
It is always a pleasure to return to the Gary Sanitary District and see success stories each time I go. I wish all those studying for the exam the best of luck and want to thank those who sat through the course for contact hours for their questions and input during class which meant they weren’t sleeping (so no one had to catch the bug).
Thank you for allowing me to be part of your future.
