October and November took Wastewater 101 to the Gary Sanitary District Wastewater Treatment Facility for Wastewater Certification Review sessions. Gary opted to have classes once per week and for 4 hours per day to allow their employees time to absorb what they learned in class each week. Wastewater 101 also provided homework in the form of quizzes containing the information covered in each class for them to work on during the week. In this round of sessions we had varying work experience and backgrounds, from one employee who had only been there a week to operators who were studying for higher certification to others just needing contact hours. I am always happy when I see those nods of understanding and even happier when I ask a question in class and get a correct answer and this time there were more correct answers than ever. I want to thank Gary Sanitary District for allowing me to be a part of their future and I want to thank those behind the scenes at the District who make the copies for the classes and do all the other small things that make these sessions a success. I also want to say to those who were in class – I wish you the best of luck and if there is anything I can do to help you know I am only an e-mail away.
