I was contacted Adam Penrod, Superintendent of the North Manchester, Indiana Water Pollution Control Facility to see if I would provide operator certification training for small groups. Of course Wastewater 101, LLC will always try to work with people who want to get certified or want training. So we worked out a schedule over 3 weeks and these two drove to Muncie for 3 days (one day a week) for about 8 hours a day for the Operator Certification Review Course. Their main function for North Manchester is Collection System Maintenance and are certified in Collection Systems by the Indiana Water Environment Association’s Collection System Committee. They do some work within the facility proper and are very eager to learn as much about operations as possible and look forward to becoming certified. I was very impressed with their amount of knowledge given the small amount of daily exposure they have to the plant. One of the best moments of the class was when the came back with their homework almost finished, what they had completed was almost completely correct and as far as the math – they were actually catching on and were able to work the problems on their own using the boxes and the pie charts! I do want to wish them the best of luck in the future.
