Does one have to be attached to an apprenticeship program to sit the the Indiana wastewater apprentice exam ?
Lisa,
Thank you for contacting Wastewater 101, LLC. You do not have to be attached to an apprenticeship program to sit for the Indiana Wastewater Apprentice Exam. The Apprentice level exam is the same exam as the one someone is taking to become certified. The difference between the Apprentice and the Certified Operator is – the Certified Operator can sign for a treatment plant that is at or lower his existing certification level. An Apprentice is just that – was able to pass the test, now just needs to get the hands-on time to be able to become Certified. You have 6 years to go from Apprentice to Certified Operator before you have to retest. During the time you are working to get your hands-on experience you have to get the Contact Hours needed for whichever level you tested for as an Apprentice. Class I/II or A/B would now take 15 hours, III/IV or C/D would take 30 hours. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask. Good luck on the exam!!
